Happy 6 month old Leroy !

Updated 06 Nov.
Leroy's 6th month

Leroy turns 6 months today.!

Another month had passed. From a baby who only drinks and sleep, till now a chatty and loves to play lil terror. (My sis name Leroy this and Lervin is lil monster). Lol. He is so fun to play with now. Smiling at you when you call his name. He loves music. Same as korkor. They can dance & shake their butt together when didi is older. What a sight it will be !

- Fully on FM. Drinking around 150~180ml
Mummy : I've stopped expressing few days ago. Kinda upset over this but I'm glad to make it this far. Leroy is quite on time for feeding. Normally around 2 - 2.5 hrs he will 'eh eh eh' for milk. Normally time interval like this I will feed him 150ml. If time is slightly longer, I will increase the amount to 170ml.

- Moving forward when on walker.
Mummy : Leroy now knows how to move forward and side. Like when my mum is hanging clothes at the corridor, he will 'walk' and stay put at the gate watching my mum. Sometimes he will 'talk' to my mum too. LOL !

- Likes to sit and play with his toes and fingers.
Mummy : He doesnt like lying down position. Prefers sitting and he will be playing with his wriggling toes.

-Sits in walker & with reverse 'gear' only.
Mummy : He likes his korkor alot. Whenever he sees Lervin, he will be screaming and smiling away. When korkor is dancing, didi will stare at korkor and starts jumping.

- 貪吃。
Mummy : My mum told me over the phone that whenever Leroy sees anyone eating, he will stare at the person without blinking his eyes. One day I'm at mum's place and saw it myself. My sis, who sitting opp me is eating snacks and Leroy is on walker in front of me. I saw Leroy looking at my sis. I thought it's ok la cos all along he likes to look at her. (pretty meh? LOL) I continue watching TV. After few mins, i turned to look at Leroy, he is still staring at my sis !

-Drooling & sweat alot.
Mummy : He is still drooling Alot. Needs to change his hanky 3-4 times a day. Seriously he can sweat even with fan blasting at full speed.

- Recognise his milk
Mummy : He knows it's feeding time when he sees his milk bottle. He will lean forward wanting to grab the bottle. 手腳很快

- Weighing 8.8kg.
Mummy : He gained weight ! He was only 8.4kg after discharge.

My mum bought a mini thomas & friends track for Lervin and he spent half hour playing by himself after my mum left ! He knows how to hook those little pulleys behind each of it. 11+pm and he is still playing. I stop him and put him to bed as he still needs to attend CC the next day.
Leroy playing discovery ball while korkor playing his train. Like korkor when he is small, likes to bite the ball.

Story to share

Received this email from a coll...
Like this sentence. "Things are to be used and people are to be loved"

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked up a stone and scratched lines on the side of the car.
In anger, the man took the child's hand and hit it many times not realizing he was using a wrench.
At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures.

When the child saw his father with painful eyes he asked, 'Dad when will my fingers grow back?'
The man was so hurt and speechless; he went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times.
Devastated by his own actions. sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches; the child had written 'LOVE YOU DAD'.

The next day that man committed suicide. . .
Anger and Love have no limits; choose the latter to have a beautiful, lovely life & remember this:

Things are to be used and people are to be loved.

The problem in today's world is that people are used while things are loved.
Let's try always to keep this thought in mind:
Things are to be used, People are to be loved.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character;
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

I hope you have a good day no matter what problems you may face.

It's the only day you'll have before it's over.

Cow milk vs Goat milk

Heard from my colls that taking goat milk is good for children. 1 of my coll's daughter had the same problem as Leroy. Introduced by her sis, she gave her daughter goat milk instead of cow's milk and her condition improved.!

Actually I gave Lervin goat milk before when he is few months old. It is due to the eznema if I remember correctly... It's pretty serious during that period. Red patches on his face and body. I was very upset and helpless that time as we had brought him to see KKH specialist for the medication doesnt work on him. I've spent like $400+ that time. Lasted for few months and it comes on and off. Friends recommend a PD clinic located at Tiong Bahru Plaza (had moved) and I brought Lervin there the next day. The 1st visit the PD advise me to change the milk from current to goat milk and prescribed some cream. After the 2nd tin of goat milk, his condition improved.

Hopefully this works for Leroy as well.

What is the difference between goat and cow milk?
Among all the animal's milk suitable for consumption, only cow and goat milk are nutritionally close to human and have been shown to be an excellent source of nutrition.Goat milk is closer to human because the protein profile is more similiar. Goat milk protein forms smaller and finer curd and has more than double the typical amount of medium chain triglyceride (MCT) in cow milk. Goat milk protein is much easier to digest and absorb and hence children have less incidence of having indigestion or allergy.
Goat milk has also been shown to contain high concentration of Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) that is very low in cow milk. EGF is a natural ingredient in human milk. It promotes gut and cell development and recovery.
An enzyme known as Platelet Activating Factor Acetyl Hydrolase, which can break down allergen, has also been isolated from goat milk during research.

What are the benefits of goat milk?
Goat milk has natural bioactive factors such as nucleotides, taurine and polyamine which help to build up the immune system. Absorption of calcium, iron, copper and zinc is higher in goat milk than cow milk. Goat milk is also good for lung, stomach and intestine. So there are fewer incidences of cough, phlegm and indigestion. Feedback from parents that their children's asthma improve after a few months of taking Karihome goat milk.

Who can benefit from goat milk?
It may benefit:
- People who want to have overall well being from goat milk nutrition.
- People with gastric problem, hypersensitive with eczema or asthma.
- Babies or children who develop winds or cramp with cow milk or soy milk products.
- Babies or children who are not growing well with cow milk or soy milk products.

What is the difference between formula goat milk and fresh goat milk?
Formula goat milk is specially formulated to suit the nutritional needs of children of different age group. Nutrients such as omega 3, 6 & taurine are added for the development of brain, nerves and eyes. Unlike whole goat milk which is low in certain nutrients such as iron and folic acid and hence not suitable for babies and young children. The protein level in whole goat milk is also too high for babies consumption.

Should I feed my chidren unmodified goat milk?
It is not recommended that children aged under 12 months be fed unmodified goat milk. Neither should they be fed unmodified cow milk. The composition of the milk is not suitable for infants, and the excessive load of some minerals may place undue stress on the infant's digestive system and kidneys. Also, unmodified goat milk is deficiet in folic acid and some vitamins. For this reason, DGC developed goat milk infant formula and follow-on formula, which are modified to meet the nutritional need of the infants.

Is goat milk suitable for people with lactose intolerance?
Often there is confusion about lactose intolerance and it can be incorrectly diagnosed. Sometimes, people who believe they are lactose intolerant find goat milk an agreeable product. All milk from mammalian species (cows, goats, sheep, humans) contains lactose, which is the major carbohydrate in the milk of most species. However, sometimes cow milk protein intolerance (CMPI) is misdiagnosed as lactose intolerance. In cases of CMPI, goat milk can be an effective alternative, especially for infants and children.

Routine

I realise that I've haven't been diligently updating their progress here... Everyday there's something for me to blog about. But I don't have the time to. After that I'll forget what I need to blog...

My daily routine.
7.45am - 8am -Send Lervin to CC
9am - 5.45pm -Work.
6.45pm - Fetch Lervin. Sometimes I'll let him play at the playground and we'll buy our dinner.
8pm - 9pm -Have dinner and rest and bath him.
9pm - 10pm -Letting him watch educational TV programmes. Eg mickey mouse clubhouse, barney, thomas & friends.. Will ask hub to look after him and I go bathing.
10.30pm - 12am - Pack Lervin's bag, expressing, get ready my next day clothes.

Practically you can say I'm 'working' 18hrs. Lucky Leroy is with my mum. If not, I think I don't need to rest already.
My life revolves around my precious 2. The 2 will always be my priority. I've missed out alot during these years but I find it's worthwhile. Nothing beats seeing them growing & learning new things each day. Am really very looking forward to the 2 brothers holding their small lil hands walking around, sharing things, lervin 傳受 didi his funny moves, so on.... =)

Some short update about Lervin.
He's a fan of Barney, Mickey Mouse & Thomas and friends ! My mum bought him few T-shirts of each character and he loves them to bit ! Few times he wore it to bed and when the next morning I want to change him to uniform, he refused ! After much coaxing and 'forcing', still he refuse to change out of his sleepwear. No choice but to let him wear the top he wants and change his shorts only. Luckily the T-shirt is 'presentable'....

He also have a mind of his own now. Wanting to choose the shoes and clothes he wants. Even food !
Like there's once my mum told me, Lervin saw a barney plush toy when they were out. He refuse to put back and carry it around. Whenever they try to take the toy from him, he holds it tightly and shake their hands away. No choice but to buy it for him. I know it isnt good to give in to him. Once in a while is ok and also he seldom gets new toy as well.
